KUALA LUMPUR – Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP) today signed memorandums of understanding (MoU) with seven industry partners in its quest for academic and research excellence.
The MoUs were signed between UTP Vice Chancellor Datuk Dr Zainal Abidin Kasim and Mikuni (M) Sdn Bhd Chairman, Ismail Bahari, Cybersecurity Malaysia Vice President of Research, Dr Solahuddin Shamsuddin and Astra Group Sdn Bhd Managing Director, Azarol Faizi Zakaria Ansari.
Other partners are Jaring Communications Sdn Bhd Chief Executive Officer, Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Yaacob, Muhibbah Engineering (M) Berhad Business Development Director, Mac Chung Jin, Petrotechnical Inspection (M) Sdn Bhd Director, Amli Saprin and Reality One Technical Marketing Director, Cheng Yau Tong.
Under the MoUs, UTP and its partners will forge, among others, cooperation in the field of research activities, and exchange of information, academic materials, internship opportunities and sponsorship for students.
They will also cooperate in developing new projects and organising joint research, advisory and consultancy activities, and look into other suitable areas of cooperation and strategic alliance.
Zainal said, the strong and effective industry-university linkages were a vital support to the rapid development in innovation and technological research.
“In our MoU with Reality One Pte Ltd, current research advancements in the state-of-the-art include the Total Water Management System using wireless technology.
“And under the partnership with Astra Group, UTP will work closely in charting the future of batteries while ensuring that the current utilizations of batteries in vehicles are optimized to ensure environmental friendly solutions,” he told reporters after signing the MoU here.
